Inderjit Singh Zira booked for blocking NH-15

Ferozepur, October 13, 2014: A case has been registered at Makhu Police Station against Ex-Cabinet Minister and presently Chairman of Mazdoor and Kissan Cell of Congress, Inderjit Singh Zira for blocking the National Highway-15 at Harike Headwork’s yesterday. He, along with twenty three others have been booked under 8-B National Highway Act (1956). More than 60-70 unidentified persons have also been booked.

Jagdev Singh, Inspector, Makhu Police Station confirmed the turn of events. He said no arrests have been made till now but very soon appropriate action shall be taken against the guilty, irrespective of their position and stature.

It is pertinent to mention here that hundreds of Congress workers had blocked the NH-15, near Harike Headwork’s, for more than four hours, protesting against the district administration for tardy procurement of paddy. The blockade was lifted after assurance from Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar, DFSC. Thousands of commuters had wait for hours. The police force also had to resort a mild lathicharge.

Besides, Inderjit Singh Zira, those who have been identified and booked are Gurmej Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Baldev Singh, Hardeep Singh, Sucha Singh, Bohar Singh, Daljit Singh, Mohinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gurdip Singh, Dr. Rashpal Singh, Ajaib Singh, Sadhu Singh, Jagir Singh, Santokh Singh, Rubbal, Kuldeep Singh, Milkha Singh, Bhola Singh, Angrej Singh, Jasbir Singh, Nishan Singh. The police have booked 60-70 unidentified persons.
