India-Sri Lanka T20 Matches: Weather in Dharamsala still uncertain
Dharamsala, February 26, 2022: Today is the day of the second T20 match of India –Sri Lanka series at Dhsaramsala, match shall begin at 7PM. It rained here for the past three days, which stopped at 10 AM today, causing heavy snowfall in Dhauladhar range of Dharamsala.
Weather in Dharamsala still uncertain. It is overcast, but no rain… so the chances of play brightens.
The last two international matches which were to be played at Dharamsala in September 2019 and March 2020 , both between India and South Africa, were washed out due to heavy rains, but now as rain stopped for the day, the hope of the play in upcoming matches has been increased.
Metrological Department had already predicted clear weather for tomorrow, when the third T20 of this series is to be played here in HPCA Stadium. TwoT20 matches were to be played between India and Sri Lanka on February 26 and 27in Dharamsala, the first match of the three match series was played in Lucknow on February 24, which was won by India. Both Sri Lankan and Indian teams are already in the city.
Mohit Sud, official of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association informed, “The last minute preparations for these matches are in full swing. Everyplace is being sanitized under the Covid protocol and strict security arrangements have been made. It is being ensured that no person enters the premises without a mask.”
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal said, “During both the matches in Dharamsala, the parking arrangements have been made at different places like Zoravar Stadium, near DIG office, Mini Secretariat parking in front of Hanuman Mandir and Police Ground Dharamsala. From parking space at Zoravar Stadium to War Memorial, a shuttle bus service shall also be provided. Another shuttle bus service will be made available near Sheela Chowk.”
He said that arrangements of cranes have been made to lift away the wrongly parked vehicles on the roadside. He said that the cooperation of the general public is expected in maintaining the smooth flow of traffic.
The second T20 international of the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.
Experts are of the view that the ball shall come on nicely to the bat and one could witness a high-scoring contest on Saturday. Due is likely to play its part in the second innings and thus both teams would be looking to bowl first upon winning the toss.
