Jalandhar, November 13, 2014: One of the biggest Indian rock show competitions “Armageddon” dominated the 3rd day of ongoing LPU Global Open Fest-Youth Vibe-2014. With originality of music, strong bands and the spirit of rock n roll, the day proved a comprehensive entity in profound melodies.  25 teams, from all across India and other countries, competed with each other carrying different themes.  With this competition, LPU proved itself as one of the largest platform for the young creators of music in India.  Beginning of Model Hunt for direct entry to final round of Miss India 2015 in Mumbai was another attraction of the day. In addition, 50 more competitions including Indian Folk Dances, Mr& Ms Youth Vibe, Bolly-wood Style Dancing, Quiz, Robo Football Mania, Case Development and more added required spirit to the fest. In the evening, rock concert by prestigious band of North-East ‘Girish & the Chronicles (GATC)’ enthralled 30,000 students.

Inspiring competing students, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said: “We are very happy to see students’ vibrancy at the campus where thousands of international and national students from prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, BITs and more are showcasing their talents.  In order to make these growing minds imbibe great values, knowledge & traditions from different competitions such activities are great platforms. Informing more, Chancellor Mittal said: “In order to heighten the dimensions of the fest, we have invited Governor of South Carolina state of US Ms Nikki Halley and Governor of Punjab Shri Shivraj V Patil as Chief Guests of 4th and 5th day, respectively. Their magnanimous presence on these two days will indeed encourage the students to keep on excelling in their fields in future as well.”

Illustrative, competitions at ‘Youth-vibe’ fest this time are very tough as teams from prestigious institutions including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Hindu College , Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRC) from Delhi; St Xaviers Colleges from Kolkata & Mumbai; NIT Rourkela from Odisha; Maharashtra Institute of Technology from Pune;  Nirma University from Gujarat Birla Institutes of Technology from Rajasthan & Jharkhand; Aligarh Muslim University from Uttar Pradesh; and, many others are actively participating. It is also highlighting feature of the fest that blood donation camps are also organized at the fest to make students understand their humane considerations and social responsibilities.

Tomorrow, competitions for 60 events including Abstract painting, Paper cloth designing, Western group singing, Orchestra, Model Hunt, Street Dances, Debate, Mobile Movie, Aquajet, Algo Design, Strategic Development, Table Tennis, Socia Ad and more will be held.

The students of Lovely Professional University won first prizes in competitions for Rhythm: International Solo, Rainbow: Color Mixing, Dancing Soul- Western, Folk, International, Nritya Natraj: Semi Classical, Lord of the Word, Web Builder and Folkingham: International Group dance. Panjab University Chandigarh won first prize for Sportica - Sport s Quiz. SRMSCET Bareilly won first prize for Dark Horse. Similarly, NIFT Kangra won first prize for The Quill Art Marathon.
