Ludhiana, February 15, 2022: In view of upcoming elections in the state on 20th February ISA Punjab, a body of Anaesthesiologists of the state launched an online campaign to encourage voters of the state to vote. The drive was launched by Dr.Tanveer Singh (Hon. Secretary ISA Punjab & Associate Professor DMCH), Dr.Sukhminder Jit Bajwa (Professor & Head Anaesthesia, Gian Sagar Medical College), Dr.Sunil Katyal (Hon. Secretary IMA Punjab & Ex Vice President ISA National), and Dr.Naresh Anand (President ISA Punjab).
Dr.Singh informed that under this drive, ISA Punjab which has more than 1000 members will be sharing posts on their social media handles urging the citizens to vote. He said that only active participation by citizens in the electoral process will ensure the selection of a strong democratic government.
Dr.Bajwa said “Refraining from casting one’s vote amounts to abstaining from exercising one’s rights and duties envisaged in the Constitution. He further added, “Elections are the lifeline of a democratic set-up and every vote holds the key. Therefore, to keep alive the democracy and to elect a government of one’s choice, 100% participation in polling is necessary.”
Dr.Katyal emphasised that voting being the biggest privilege given to citizens by the Constitution, every citizen should understand the significance of the same and exercise it cautiously.
Dr.Anand added that it is ironical that residents discuss elections on social media but don't go to vote; so to encourage them to vote, ISA Punjab will be contributing in its own way.
