Indira IVF Pune organises walkathon and symposium to raise awareness on saving girl child
To celebrate 1 lakh successful IVF stories and promote the cause of Beti Bacho, Beti Padhao
Pune, April 13, 2022: Indira IVF Pune today announced the organisation of a walkathon and symposium to promote the save the girl child initiative under the aegis of the government’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. The city-based centre of the largest infertility treatments chain in India has initiated both the events to take place on 17 April and encourages the participation of all to promote the cause and to mark the achievement of 1 lakh successful IVF stories around the country – the first in India. Doctors and staff from the centre unveiled the T-shirt for the walkathon.
The 4-kilometre walkathon has free registration and will begin at the Symbiosis Playground (Viman Nagar) at 6 AM IST on 17 April, covering an extensive route through Viman Nagar; participant kits will be available on the day of the event from 6 AM onwards. The top three walkers will be felicitated. The “Save the Girl Child” symposium is to take place at the Symbiosis Auditorium between 4 PM to 7 PM IST on the same day and is open to all.
The events have been organised in association with the Pune District Athletic Association, PUWO-Pune Womaniya, Viman Nagar Women’s Club, Srishti Pratishthan, and Pune Peth Runner. Dignitary guests slated to be in attendance include Shri Sunil Vijay Tingre – Member of Legislative Assembly, Shri Jagdish Mulik – President of Bharatiya Janta Party (Pune), Shri Amitabh Gupta – Commissioner of Police, Smt. Sonali Kulkarni – Bollywood actress, Shri Avantika Narale – Gold Winner at the Asian Youth Athletics Championship, and Smt. Sujata Mallic Kumar – Principal, St Mary’s School, Pune.
Speaking on the conception of the event, Dr Amol Lunkad from Indira IVF Pune said, “As we help couples conceive and bring new lives into this world, it is essential that we also take care of those lives that are with us. We are inclined towards the cause of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao to save the girl child and work for her education so she is equipped to become the leader of tomorrow. Participation in our walkathon and symposium is open for all because we are determined to uniformly spread the message, and will continue to do so with our retained efforts.”
