“Induction Program on tobacco cessation” (IPTC) on theme of “Quitters are winner” 

Chandigarh, August 21, 2022: Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh jointly with Strategic Institute for Public Health Education and Research (SIPHER) and E-RCTC, PGI, Chandigarh, and supported by Department of Oral Science, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized one day “Induction Program on tobacco cessation” (IPTC) on 20th August on the theme of “Quitters are winner”. 

Chief Guest of the Event was Prof. Y P Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh talked about the importance of good health and according to him health of an individual is not something that is to be neglected.  Dr Gaurav Gaur, Assistant Professor, centre for social work and Director Public Relations was also grace the occasion and share their practical experience of the field area. The event was organized by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Public Health and Dr Rakesh Gupta President SIPHER, Chandigarh. 

Resource person of the event was Prof Sonu Goel, Director, Resource Centre for Tobacco Control (E-RCTC) and Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Rana J. Singh, Deputy Regional Director, The Union Southeast Asia, Dr Arpit Gupta, Associate Prof., Oral Health Sciences Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Rakesh Gupta, President, of Rajasthan Cancer Foundation talked about Health Care Professional’s Empowerment in Tobacco cessation delivery, approach to Tobacco Cessation in community. A quiz was also organized by Prof Sonu on Tobacco Cessation.

BRIEF

Chandigarh, August 21, 2022:Panjab University, Chandigarh conducted the B.Ed. Entrance Test on 21.8.2022 (Sunday) for admission to B.Ed. course in colleges of Chandigarh only.  The timings of the test were from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.  Five centres were created for this test at Panjab University Campus, Chandigarh. 93.29% (1029 out of 1103) candidates appeared in this test.    Observers were sent to the centres for routine checking and smooth conduct of the test.  The test was conducted satisfactorily and no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.
