Jalandhar, May 24, 2022: An industrial visit was organized by Post Graduate Department of Economics for students of undergraduate and postgraduate classes of the department to the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, Jalandhar. RCF is a coach manufacturing unit of Indian Railways. It has manufactured more than 30000 passenger coaches of different types including Self Propelled passenger vehicles which constitute over 50% of the total population of coaches on Indian Railways and has progressed with the latest trends and preferences.
The visit was aimed at letting the students to get the insight of all the technical concepts such as production, economies of scale, labour management and industrial regulations. Technical experts and guide toured the students through the different shops viz. the sheet metal shop, steel shop, painting shop, and the furnishing shop. Students exchanged the views with the technical experts of the Rail Coach Factory and got the necessary exposure. They also learned some new concepts and gained a good experience.
The members of the Managing Committee and the Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar congratulated the students for the industrial visit and further appreciated the efforts of the Department of Economics for organising the industrial visit.
