Chandigarh, April 12, 2019: CIIPP and Technology Enabling Centre, Panjab University organized a brainstorming discussion on Translational possibilities of Industry projects at PU. Dr.Anil Pareek, President, Clinical Research, IPCA Laboratories, Mumbai, Prof Sanjay Badada from PGIMER, Dr.Ankur from IMTECH, along with Prof OPKatare, UIPS, Prof Sk. Mehta Director CIL and many other faculty members from Panjab university along with Research scholars from different departments shared their views during this session.
Dr.Prateeek shared his views on the importance of having a holistic view and a complete road-map, right in the beginning at the conception stage of the research project. Accordingly, Scientists working in the biomedical research must focus on the approach of “Patient-Centricity”, which means besides considering how the patient will be benefited it is necessary to look into industry-oriented dimensions like scale-up, product stability, cost effectiveness be in mind.
He also suggested that there is a need to form a cohesive core research group, involving the experts from different streams, to make the proposal comprehensive by complementing each other’s expertise.
Dr Badada emphasized set up strong groups among the clinicians and researchers so that targeted projects are developed including repurposing of some drugs as well as long-term efficacious drugs in the field of osteoarthritis, Diabetes & many more. Prof Katare, Prof SK Mehta andDr.Ankur, also shared their views for seting up small groups at PU. Prof. SanjeevPuri, Director CIIPP shared that the CIIPP and TEC will extend all the possible help to facilitate Researchers and faculty members for establishing such target groups involving stake holders from industry- academic Institutes/Universities and hospitals for translating the ideas to product.
