Industry representatives meet NGT team regarding gas leakage incident

Ludhiana, December 15, 2023: Upkar Singh Ahuja President CICU and Honey Sethi General Secretary CICU and Ramesh Kakkar President Jaspal Banger Industries met a delegation from National Green tribunal delegation Dr. Raj Ram Singh, DIGF (C), Dy. Director General of Forest, Prof.Sreedevi Upadhyayula, Department of Chemical Engineering, District Magistrate, Ludhiana along with local officials, Joint commissioner, Municipal Ludhiana and ADC Ludhiana, Member Secretary and Chief Engineers PPCB Ludhiana.
The National Green Tribunal and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team visited to further inquire about the gas leakage incident, which happened on April 30, 2023, where 11 persons lost their lives.
View of the industries is that no evidence was found where industry can be held guilty for the incidents there are many facts which show no evidence found against industry
Approximately 21 units are either closed or at verge of closed due to discontinuity of power or notice issued by the PPCB Department.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, President of CICU and Honey Sethi, General Secretary of CICU requested the NGT to advise concerned departments to release connection and not take any action until they are found guilty.
