The informer will get reward depending on the quantity of the seized drugs- NPS Randhawa
Nawanshahr, April 27, 2022: In order to further strengthen its efforts to curb the drug menace completely from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa on Wednesday announced a cash reward of Rs 51000 for the informer whose tip-off lead to seizure of commercial quantity of narcotics drugs.
Presiding over a meeting at his office with police and health departments, the Deputy Commissioner said that the informer’s name would be kept secret and the police would act on each piece of information. He added that within the next few days, a helpline number would be launched by his office in the general public so that they can share the information about the persons involved or associated with the drug peddling and drugs can be seized from them. He also sought a report from the officials about ‘cool-lip’ a tobacco product and asked them to send the report as soon as possible.
NPS Randhawa said that the prime aim of the move of reward is to wipe out the drug menace and carve out a drug free society.
He said that the district administration will leave no stone unturned to make Nawanshahr totally free from this curse. He said that the SBS Nagar police have already been taking action against the drug peddlers and putting them behind the bars.
Further, he said that an awareness drive against the curse has already been initiated on Monday and exhorted the people to become an active part of the drive. He said that such efforts cannot be successful without the cooperation of the general public and told the time has come when every section of society must contribute towards this noble cause and contribute in this war against drugs.
The Deputy Commissioner said that with the participation of people, this drive will become a mass movement to save the coming generations.
