Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated National Unity Day
The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Unity day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron man of India and for paying tribute to his invaluable contribution to building a modern and unified India.
Jalandhar, October 31, 2022: The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Unity day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron man of India and for paying tribute to his invaluable contribution to building a modern and unified India.
A pledge-taking ceremony was organized to provide the student-teachers with an opportunity for reaffirming their inherent strength and resilience to stand against threats to the national unity, integrity and security of our nation INDIA. A tree plantation drive was organized on the college campus in which medicinal plants were planted as within our nature, trees are perfect role models for unity and purity as well as selflessness and sacrifice.
NSS Volunteer Sakshi Thakur explained the teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and accentuated that Self-reliance was the chief tenet of Sardar Patel’s economic philosophy. He worked tirelessly to build a consensus with the princely states but did not hesitate in employing methods of Sama, Dama, Dand and Bhed where ever necessary. She quoted one of his teachings, “We worked hard to achieve our freedom; we shall have to strive harder to justify it”.
A patriotic solo singing competition was organized on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity for instilling a sense of belonging to our nation in the hearts of every citizen of India. Amanpreet Kaur sang the patriotic song ‘Sare Jahan se Achha Hindustan Hamara with great zeal and fervour. Manmeet Kaur expressively sang “Mera Desh Mera Mulk” symbolising peace, harmony and love for the nation. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh in his speech highlighted the importance of unity by explaining that unity is strength and the onus of keeping India united is on the shoulders of our student-teachers i.e. would-be teachers.
