Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrates International Girl Child Day

Jalandhar: The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International girl child day to focus attention on the challenges girls face and to promote girls empowerment using online mode. Online declamation contest and extempore was organised in which many student-teachers participated actively. Kunika achieved first position, she spoke eloquently on the topic of ‘Women Empowerment’. Amritpal expressed her views about ‘Save Girl Child, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and bagged second position. Prabhjot Kaur recited a self-composed poem on challenges faced by girls and how to overcome them. An Online extempore was also organised on topics related to the achievements of Great Indian women - Mary Kom, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams etc. The student-teachers expressed their inner feelings and thoughts about the strategies to be adopted to equip girls with qualitative education and make their future bright. E- certificates were given to the winners.

He said that the college has a ‘Grievance cell’ and a ‘Guidance and Counselling cell’ to help in solving problems faced by females so that they live a peaceful and dignified life. Many student-teachers pursuing B.Ed. are mothers of girl child and they are trained to take care of their daughters by providing them with equal rights, quality education and other amenities of life the same way as they would do for a boy.
