Jalandhar:
To develop helping and considerate skills among students while tackling pandemic situations appropriately, Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions organized a workshop on topic “Psycho-social skills of a Good Helper”. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Kritika Punia (Team Member, Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education). Ms. Nidhi Sharma (HOD, MLS) welcomed the guest speaker.
Group Director Dr. Shailesh Tripathi emphasised the importance of this workshop in the crisis and focused on how empathy can support and rescue life in the current scenario of pandemic.
Ms. Kritika acquainted the students with qualities of a good helper. She stated that a good helper first has to identify the behaviour, feelings and thoughts of clients by listening them attentively. Then show empathy towards them, support them with positive attitude and motivate them to take right decision. All tools of empathy will help them to become self-reliant. During the session, She conducted the role play and group activity with students to demonstrate the behaviour of a good helper. She also focused on validating the client information and providing them practical advice to solve their problems.
The session was very interactive as students actively participated and respond positively in role play activities to learn the qualities of good helper.
Dr. Shailesh Tripathi stated that this online session enables the students to heal psychological wounds of covid patients and helps them to stay away from stress and anxiety during the pandemic.
