Rohtak, April 19, 2025: Students should be innovative, take innovation forward. Innovation will pave the way for employment. This was stated by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya while inaugurating the Golden Jubilee celebrations organized in the Tagore Auditorium of Maharishi Dayanand University today on the occasion of the 50th Foundation Day of the varsity.

Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of MDU Bandaru Dattatraya congratulated and wished the MDU community on completing a glorious journey of 50 years. He said that the Golden Jubilee celebrations are a milestone in the journey of the university; he called upon the MDU community to carry forward the golden legacy of the university. The Governor said that it is a matter of pride for this university to be named after Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the young generation should move forward by assimilating the contribution and thoughts of Swami Dayanand.

Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, calling the new education policy a game changer, talked about taking it forward rapidly. He said that higher educational institutions should give degrees in mother tongue Hindi, which will benefit the poor and rural people. While praising the works and achievements of MDU, he said that today MDU alumni are holding high positions in every field including education, sports, culture, service to the nation, which is a matter of pride.

Governor Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurated the MDU Golden Jubilee logo, the Souvenir and MDU Mirror quarterly newsletter. He also launched the MDU alumni website on this occasion. Earlier, the Governor inaugurated the FDC cafeteria and an exhibition highlighting the MDU development journey.

Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, while addressing as the Guest of Honor, praised the 50-year development journey of MDU. He said that MDU is named after such a great man who showed the world the path to live a bright life. The Education Minister said that only Indian culture and the nation of India can do world welfare that is why today the whole world is looking towards India for guidance. He reiterated the resolution to make India the most powerful country in the world by 2047 and called for united efforts to fulfil this resolution. The Education Minister talked about contributing in making India developed, making it a world leader.

Kailash Chandra Sharma, Chairperson of Haryana State Higher Education Council, in his address as a special guest, congratulated MDU on its Foundation Day and said that the journey of a university lasts for centuries. He praised the National Education Policy 2020 and called it useful.

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said in his presidential address that the 50th Foundation Day of MDU is a special milestone which is a symbol of the glorious development journey of the university, as well as it is an opportunity to prepare new possibilities and road map for the future. He said that MDU is setting new records every day in the field of research, education, sports and culture. He said that a conducive environment for education has been created in MDU and special focus has been laid on capacity building of students. Attention is being paid to creating social connect of students and making studies interesting

On this occasion VC announced to give 50 Golden Jubilee Research Fellowships of Rs 50,000 each to UG and PG students this year. He announced to create two research chairs in the name of Dr. Hargovind Khurana and Dr. CV Raman in the field of science. He said that this year MDU will organize 50 lectures under the Golden Jubilee Eminent Lecture Series.

Dean, Academic Affairs Prof. A.S. Mann gave the welcome speech in the beginning and gave details of the development journey of the university. Registrar Dr. Krishan Kant expressed the Vote of Thanks. Dean, Student Welfare Prof. Randeep Rana organized the program. CCPC Director Prof. Divya Malhan conducted the stage. Director Youth Welfare Dr. Pratap Rathi provided coordination support.
