The installation ceremony of the 46th President of Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown Rtn Dr. Sanjay Kalra and Board (2022-23) was held today at CII Auditorium Sec 31 Chandigarh.

The installation ceremony of the 46th President of Rotary Club Chandigarh
Midtown Rtn Dr. Sanjay Kalra and Board (2022-23) was held today at
CII Auditorium Sec 31 Chandigarh in the august presence of Dr Kiran Bedi
Former Lt Governor Pondicherry as the Chief Guest on the occasion
joined by The Guest of Honor Deputy Commissioner of
Chandigarh Vinay Pratap Singh.
The investiture ceremony is a very prestigious celebration in the Rotary
International every year, when the baton is passed to the new leadership to
infuse new energy into the incoming team for dedicated service to the
community for making a difference. Rotary International this year has created
history as for the first time, women Rotarian shall be serving as its President.
Jennifer Jones from RC Windor. Canada has given the theme Imagine Rotary as she
urged people to dream big and harness their connections to turn those dreams into reality.
The outgoing President Salil Chopra presented an elaborate report of Rotary
service done to reach out the local community with special mention of Project
Sahyog for artificial limbs, Project Aastha for Cervical Cancer Vaccination, TB Hut,
vocational skilling,ASRA SERAI at GMCH, Sector 32,Chandigarh and several other
projects in the health, education and community development .
Speaking on this occasion, the incoming President Dr Sanjay Kalra expressed
gratitude for the esteemed responsibility entrusted to him as President 2022-23
and reassured the commitment of the Club to work with devotion and dedication
on several ongoing projects. He said “So now it is time to turn our dreams into
reality as we imagine a world filled with hope, faith, love and gratitude. Lets
extract happiness and Implant smiles. Let us do with our best ability to make
every day a happy one for one fellow human by extending our Helping Hands
Initiative.
The Signature project Rotary Adarsh Gaon at Bir Ghaggar will spotify on all seven
areas of focus to improve lives such as Rain water harvesting, Vocational skilling
lab, solar electrification, Happy schools, girl empowerment, egg bank ,Miyawaki
plantation. Project Asra Kutir for patients’ attendants at Civil Hospital Panchkula
shall be our major focus of attention to address the need for safe and affordable
health care. Projects Sahyog, Aastha, Sudiksha ,Maa, Akshay plus, Polio Plus, First
step hut etc. shall continue to benefit the community. Vocational skilling
programs at CCET, Asha Kiran and other flagship projects of our club shall be
revived Post Covid and made self sustainable. Similarly Rotaracts and Interacts
will be reenergized to strengthen our humanitarian projects partnership. Three
Global Grants of Mobile diagnostic express, Cervical cancer Vaccination and
Dialysis support centre are under implementation and two Global Grants on Post
Polio Syndrome rehabilitation and Solar electrification are awaiting International
partners. So we should goal for 100% PHF and 50,000$ contribution to TRF to give
wings to our imagination.
The President also introduced the members of his new board and pledged to
serve the humanity as Rotary opens opportunities. Attended by several members
of the club, the event saw attendance of several District and club leaders on the
occasion. While three new members were introduced, 2 girls were presented
scholarships for higher education and microloan of Rs 30,000 each to the two
beneficiaries were presented on Installation function.
The Guest of Honor Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner,
Chandigarh appreciated the good work done by various chapters of Rotary
Chandigarh in improving the city life and those living in the periphery. He offered
to coordinate with NGO for partnering with Chandigarh Administration for quality
initiatives in health, education, vocational skilling of youth etc.
Dr Kiran Bedi IPS Former Lt Governor was the chief Guest on the occasion. She
remembered her visit to the club 20 years ago when PP Dr Balram Gupta was
inducted as President of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown who was her teacher at
Punjab University. She shared her administrative experience while serving
community and how Rotary can make a difference. She congratulated the
President and the members for joining the Rotary movement and wished them
success. Her spell bounding deliverance left the audience in awe and the
thunderous applause expressed their appreciation.
