Insurance Ombudsman Chandigarh Launches Outreach Campaign for Complainant Resolution and Awareness
The Chandigarh office of Insurance Ombudsman, at the behest of Council of Insurance Ombudsman has announced commencement of a comprehensive outreach campaign aimed at reaching all major areas in their jurisdiction. The primary objective of this campaign is to provide efficient complaint resolution services to insurance customers as well as to raise awareness about the crucial role of the institution of Insurance Ombudsman.

The primary objective of this campaign is to provide efficient complaint resolution services to insurance customers as well as to raise awareness about the crucial role of the institution of Insurance Ombudsman.
Insurance Ombudsman is a dedicated institution established to safeguard the rights and interests of the policyholders. It serves as an independent mediator, enabler facilitating the resolution of disputes between policy holders and insurance companies in a fair, impartial, cost effective and expeditious manner.
Understanding the importance of convenience for policy holders the Chandigarh Insurance Ombudsman Atul Jerath has commenced this initiative of doorstep resolution by holding this special camp in Ludhiana on 23-08-2023. This initiative aims to reduce barriers to seeking resolution by eliminating the need for the policyholder to visit the office of Insurance Ombudsman. Today in this special camp 25 complainants were present, who were heard along with the insurers present online / offline and resolution of their complaints provided. Suitable settlements / awards were digitally signed and delivered immediately.
A help desk created for the purpose was looked after by Secretary Ms. Laxmi Prakash, along with the team of officers of the Centre. About 50 people were educated about the process of complaint registration, documents requirements and how the online portal is to be accessed.
Chandigarh Ombudsman Jerath informed that the Chandigarh center of Insurance Ombudsman has jurisdiction over the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh and Chandigarh. It was informed that the Chandigarh center has disposed off 5172 complaints during the last FY 2022-23 providing a relief of about 16.58 Crore INR to complainants and also as on 31-07-2023 the center has disposed off 1395 complaints out of 1641 received during this financial year providing a relief of 8.56 Crore INR to the complainants.
