Ludhiana, August 22, 2024: The district administration is set to intensify its drive against the cattle breeders whose cattle will be found grazing on the roads and eating the tree saplings.
Presiding over a meeting with various departments including Forest, Police, rural development and panchayats and animal husbandry, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal stated that the joint teams of these departments will work in unison to check menace and will take action against such cattle breeders besides imposing hefty fines. He mentioned that around 19 lakh saplings have been planted by administration in this monsoon and now we will have to save these saplings from stray cattle or cattle grazing on roads.
Dhaliwal stated that three challans have already issued in this regard and in coming days, the drive will be further intensified to curtail the practice. Apart from this, he also pointed out that some people graze their cattle openly on roads and in public places, due to which roads are also prone to accidents and disruption to normal traffic. Moreover, whenever animals are left on the roads, these animals often become unruly and harm commuters also.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner also asked the departments to submit a daily report of the drive to his office in this regard.
