Inter-College Competition Abhivyakti organized in Doaba College
Department of Education, Doaba College, Jalandhar organized ABHIVYAKTI – Inter-College Competitions in connection with 200th Birth Anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati in the college campus. Dhruv Mittal, Treasurer, Doaba College Managing Committee was the Chief Guest and Sh. Sushil Kumar, a renowned Vedic Scholar, was the Guest of Honour. They were cordially welcomed by Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal of the College, Dr. Avinash Chander, Head, Department of Education, faculty members and students.
Jalandhar, March 18, 2024: Department of Education, Doaba College, Jalandhar organized ABHIVYAKTI – Inter-College Competitions in connection with 200th Birth Anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati in the college campus. Dhruv Mittal, Treasurer, Doaba College Managing Committee was the Chief Guest and Sh. Sushil Kumar, a renowned Vedic Scholar, was the Guest of Honour. They were cordially welcomed by Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal of the College, Dr. Avinash Chander, Head, Department of Education, faculty members and students.
In his welcome address, Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari spoke on the contribution of Swami Dayanand to the society, especially in the field of education. He explained the meaning of ‘arya’ and said that Swami Dayanand visualized a society consisting of enlightened people. Sushil Kumar, the keynote speaker, in his discourse delved on the teachings of Swami Dayanand and said that the real aim of education is not to earn money but to inculcate humanistic values in the students. Dr. Avinash Chander, Head, Department of Education, said that the purpose behind the organization of ABHIVYAKTI is to spread the teaching of Swami Dayanand in the present generation. He said that the event provides an opportunity to the participants to express their views regarding Swami Dayanand through different mediums viz. words, colors, brush and canvas, and computers. Dhruv Mittal, Treasurer, Doaba College Managing Committee and Chief Guest of the day, said that the teachings of Swami Dayanand are based on logic. He also said that Swami Ji opposed social evils like caste system, child marriage and sati pratha.
In the ABHIVYAKTI, more than 50 students of 10 colleges of Punjab participated in four different categories viz. Declamation Contest, Portrait Making, Slogan Writing and Power Point Presentation. In the Declamation Contest, Anurag Saini of Guru Virjanand Gurukul Mahavidayala, Kartarpur, Chahatpreet of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar and Radhika of St. Soldier College of Education got First, Second and Third Prizes respectively. In the Portrait Making, Sanjana of Guru Nanak Khalsa Girls College, Bana Sangh Desia, Yangchen Dolker of Hans Raj Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar and Krishan from PCMSD College for Women, Jalandhar got the First, Second and Third Prizes respectively. In Slogan Writing, Megha of Hans Raj Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Vinita of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, and Riva Sharma of Hans Raj Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar got the First, Second and Third Positions respectively. In Power Point Presentation, the First Prize went to Swati and Shruti of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Second Prize to Harleen and Akansha of M G N College of Education, Jalandhar and Third Prize to Ruchi of St. Soldier College of Education, Jalandhar. The Prize Distribution Fucntion was presided over by Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal of the college, Prof. Jaswinder Singh presented the formal vote of thanks. The stage was conducted by Dr. Manjeet Kaur.
