Inter College Sports and Youth Festival concludes at UHF

Nauni (Himachal Pradesh), December 13, 2021: The 5th Annual Inter College Sports and Youth Festival concluded at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. Teams from the four constituent colleges of the University- College of Horticulture and College of Forestry from the main campus at Nauni and the College of Horticulture and Forestry (COH&F), at Neri and Thunag took part in the four-day extravaganza.

Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice Chancellor of the University, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. With superb performance in the track and field, the College of Forestry, Nauni bagged the overall trophies for Athletics. The College of Horticulture, Nauni bagged the overall trophies for Sports and cultural events with its students shining in the various sports and literary, song and dance, theater and fine arts events.

Rohit from College of Horticulture and Yachna from College of Forestry were adjudged as the best male and female athletes respectively. The University also gave away the Dr Puran Anand Adhlakha award for Best Male and Female sportsperson. Dr Adhlakha was the first principal of the College of Agriculture, Solan. The award was bagged by Mridul and Simran from College of Forestry. The award carries a trophy, certificate and a cash prize.

Congratulating the students on the wonderful exhibition of their talent in sport and cultural events, Dr Parvinder Kaushal said that extracurricular activities are an integral part of student life. He hoped that the students from the university would not only excel in academic and research fields but also make a name in the field of sports. Students' Welfare Officer Dr JK Dubey also congratulated the students for their performances. Over the past few days, students from the three colleges participated in both track and field events. The teams also competed in Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Badminton and Table tennis. Competitions in the Youth Festival were held under Music, Dance, Literary, Theatre and Fine Arts categories.
