Chandigarh, August 9, 2019: Festivity and vivacity was witnessed in the compound of the Neerja Bhanot Hall, Girls Hostel No. 10, Panjab University, Chandigarh during Teej celebrations.
The function was jointly hosted by Girls hostel no. 8, 9, 10 and International Hostel to welcome the newly admitted girl inmates and acquaint international students and students from other states to the Punjabi culture.
On the occasion, the Chief guests were Kanwalpreet Kahlon and Dr. Kuljeet Kaur while other dignitaries like Prof. Neena Caplash Dean Student Welfare(W), Dr. Navneet Kaur and Prof. Simrat Kahlon, Dr. Supinder Kaur and wardens from PU hostels graced the evening with their presence. Prof. Caplash appreciated the joint efforts of wardens, students, staff and mess & canteen contractors of PU girl’s hostels.
The hostel was decorated with Phulkaris to give a feel of Punjabi culture. The girls were also dressed in traditional Punjabi cultural attires. Dance, Mehndi, Ms.Punjaban competitions completed the celebrations. Kheer-poora was served to the residents.
Overall the day was full of moments of remembrance and enjoyment. Meenal Sharma (GH.8) was adjudged as Ms. Panjaban, team of Gangandeep (GH3) &, Alka and group (Gh10) and Baljeet and Gagandeep stood first, second and 3rd in dance competition whereas Manjot (GH8), Nancy (GH4) and Samridhi (GH10) stood first, second and third in Mehndi competition.
