"An Interactive session on the legal issues Startups, Corporate Executives need to know" held

Hyderabad, August 26, 2017: FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Hyderabad has lined up an interactive session with legal and economic laws expert Varun Sriram, a practicing lawyer from Chennai, here in the city today.

Sangeetha Reddy of Apollo Hospitals, Pinky Reddy among others graced the interactive session. 100 members of the FLO also attended the session.

Welcoming the gathering, Kamini Saraf, Chairperson of FLO Hyderabad Chapter said, Hyderabad city is home to about 2500 start-ups and India, 19000 startups. "Indian startups raised $3.5 billion in funding in the first half of 2015, and the number of active investors in India increased from 220 in 2014 to 490 in 2015. Eight Indian start-ups belonged to the Unicorn Club (ventures that valued at $1 billion and upwards)".

With this background, an interactive session "what we know and need to know about legal, corporate governance, economic laws” is planned for startups and corporate executives informed Kamini Saraf, Chairperson of Hyderabad Chapter while welcoming the gathering.

Speaking further, quoting Jawarlal Nehuru, former Prime Minister of India, Kamini said, “To awaken the people, it is the women who must ... Once she is on the move, the family moves, the village moves, the nation ... We are 50% in the population. Women can be good entrepreneurs too, Kamini added

On the occasion FLO Swayam, a Pan India initiative re-launched. Swayam booth is also unveiled. Swayam initiative was launched two years. But, it was available only to the members. Now it is extended to those who are not members of the FLO

Swayam is a facilitation platform of FLO Hyderabad to connect women entrepreneurs with handpicked panel of professionals for free business guidance, mentoring and assistance. We have got good response even before this initiative is formally extended to women outside FLO purview, she said.

We hope to extend Swayam service to 100 women and expect to create 20 to 30 success stories by the end of the year. This service is exclusive for women entrepreneurs.
Under Swayam we have 22 success stories so far from across India in the last two years. And of the 22 success stories, one is from Hyderabad, Kamini informed.

The panel of experts who are roped in so far who will mentor women entrepreneurs under Swayam Include Varun Sriram, a practicing lawyer from Chennai, Ramakanth T, a branding and advertising professional who heads RBC Workdwide and Juzer S. Soni, Partner of PKF Consulting Services LLP. More panel of experts will be made available as we progress with this initiative, informed Kamini while addressing the press conference.

Speaking further, Kamini informed Varun Sriram is a practicing lawyer. He is a partner with JSA, a national law firm with over 300 legal professionals. He has advised numerous corporates, commercial and M&A transactions across diverse sectors such as healthcare, security services, e-commerce, hospitality, ports, food & beverage, manufacturing, technology, software services, transportation & logistics, pharmaceutical, and NBFCs.

Speaking about the ambitious initiative “Swayam” of the Chapter, Kamini shared that the Ideas are very precious. They need to be incubated with love and care to blossom into something meaningful. This is a challenge woman entrepreneurs typically face when starting their own business. Today women are increasingly stepping out and forging ahead in every sphere. But, at times, their startup ideas need critical support. How do I form a company? Where do I find the funding? Who can they turn to for the answers? FLO's initiative "Swayam," is an answer and gives wings to such women dreams. Swayam is facilitation platform to connect women entrepreneurs to a handpicked panel of professionals for business guidance, mentoring and assistance, Kamini informed.

The mission of Swayam is to create women entrepreneurs, promote economic growth among women, give women the opportunity to explore their potential and help them with business ideas to reach their vision, Kamini informed.
