The Department of Statistics today organised an interactive session with the Alumni, Gurdeep Kalra, Principal Consultant, Infosys, USA on the topic “How Do We Move To Corporate World” as part of “Distinguished Lecture Series” to mark the Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) of the Department.

Chandigarh, December 19, 2024: The Department of Statistics today organised an interactive session with the Alumni, Gurdeep Kalra, Principal Consultant, Infosys, USA on the topic “How Do We Move To Corporate World” as part of “Distinguished Lecture Series” to mark the Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) of the Department.
The Distinguished Speaker Gurdeep Kalra is an Alumnus of Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh (Batch 1985-87).
In his lecture, Gurdeep Kalra discussed about career opportunities in Statistics and the role of Statistics in corporate world. He also discussed about general tips for students to enter into various positions like Data Scientist, Bio-Statistician, Statistician, Quantitative Analyst and other career paths related to statistics. Students raised number of queries and he responded to all of them to their satisfaction.
Earlier, Professor Narinder Kumar, Chairperson of the Department of Statistics and organizer of the Distinguished Lecture Series extended a warm welcome to the Distinguished Speaker, Gurdeep Kalra for accepting the invitation. In his welcome address, he shared with the participants that the Distinguished Speaker has over three decades of experience in the corporate sector.
All the Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh attended the lecture. In the end, the vote of thanks was offered by Prof. Suresh K. Sharma, Placement Coordinator.
