Ludhiana, February 15, 2019: Every year 15th February is celebrated as International Childhood Cancer Day across the world. The global theme for International Childhood Cancer Day is ‘No more pain, No more loss’ for children with cancer and their families.

Each year, merely 3 lacs children are diagnosed with cancer around the world. There is a wide gap between childhood cancer survivals in low middle income countries and that of high income countries.

Department of Pediatrics is committed to provide stat of art services to children suffering from childhood cancer.

In an effort to fight childhood cancer, Dr Shruti Kakkar (Assistant Professor of Pediatrics) is holding outreach clinics at Advanced Cancer Institute, Bhatinda for the past one year.

The department is holding ‘Foundation Oncology Skills Workshop’ for pediatric nurses on 23rd and 24th February in association with PHO Chapter of IAP. Nurses play an important role in care of these children and hope to contribute to improving their outcome by empowering nurses with up to date knowledge shared by team of faculty members from DMCH.

All those present were given yellow ribbon to wear which signify ‘International Childhood Cancer Day’

DMCH Managing Society decided to give free treatment to a child Bhavna (name changed) whose family doesn’t have any resources to treat her disease.
