International Childhood Cancer Day observed at DMCH
15th February is marked as International Childhood Cancer Day every year
Ludhiana, February 15, 2022: 15th February is marked as International Childhood Cancer Day every year. The theme for this year is ‘Best Survival is achievable through our hands’. In this regard, Department of Pediatrics under the able guidance of Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni (Professor & Head Department Pediatrics) conducted a drawing contest for cancer affected children. Around 30 children was participated in this activity and use their creativity to make different images.
Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta graced the occasion.
In his message, Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH has always believed in providing quality and affordable treatment to children with cancer. Gupta lauded the efforts of Department of Pediatrics for conducting the activity.
Giving information on the occasion Dr Shrutti Kakkar, Incharge Pediatrics Oncology said that for the convenience of cancer patient DMCH has added a new facility of eye cancer treatment, with this facility eye cancer patients can get the treatment from DMCH. In view of this recently added facility, an informative session was also conducted by Dr Ritesh Verma (Assistant Professor Department of Eye) for the residents of Department of Pediatrics. During the session various topics regarding sign and symptoms of eye cancer, early detection and management of eye cancer were discussed.
Common sign and symptoms of cancer in children are asunder: Unexplained paleness, loss of energy, an unusual lump or swelling, frequent headaches (often with vomiting) sudden eye or vision changes. Early detection of sign and symptoms of cancer can provide the appropriate treatment for the disease.
