International conference on integrated interdisciplinary innovations in engineering concluded at PU
Innovation, inter-disciplinary and integration – key elements for research: Prof Tankeshwar Kumar
Chandigarh: Three day TEQIP-III and INSA sponsored “International Conference on Integrated Interdisciplinary Innovations In Engineering” (ICIIIE 2020) jointly organized by UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu concluded at PU.
Dr. Minto Rattan, coordinator ICIIIE presented the conference report highlighting the key features of the ICIIIE 2020.He stated that the conference was organized under twinning activity of TEQIP-III in collaboration with Govt. College of Engineering and technology, Jammu. The technical program was enriched with 08 plenary talks, 21 invited expert lectures on various innovative technologies and 200 oral/poster presentations. There were 19 technical sessions in the conference related to various branches of engineering, materials science, mathematics and biotechnology. In each session one best presentation award was conferred.
The Chief Guest Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar congratulated UIET and Panjab University for organizing this event. Prof Kumar said that the ICIIIE contains three important I’s – Innovation, Inter-disciplinary and Integration. In order to run an economy, innovation is very important. Innovation is not just an idea but it needs to convert it into an acceptable product. Many advanced technologies like data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are going to be the integral part of future research. He emphasized on the convergence of science and technology. When we talk about COVID 19 vaccine, everybody is waiting for the Oxford University vaccine so we can say that a University name is running the world.
Guest of Honour, Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, PU in his address praised the organizers for encouraging and motivating young researchers. He said that there were a large number of sessions and a galaxy of eminent scholars and researchers participated in this conference. He said that collaboration, innovation and interdisciplinary approach are the requirement of quality research and all of them were included in the conference theme. He also stated that data analytics, artificial intelligence, IoT and 3D printing can play an important role in meaningful research.
Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET, Jammu stated that all the sessions were very informative and congratulated UIET for the event. She said that GCET Jammu is also looking forward to organizing a similar event at GCET Jammu.
Earlier, Prof. Harmesh Kumar, Program Chair (ICIIIE 2020) welcomed the dignitaries, senior professors, coordinators and colleagues, who worked very hard to make this conference a great success. He also expressed warm welcome to the distinguished delegates and students for joining the programme. He stated that this conference has provided a platform for the researchers to deliberate upon integrated interdisciplinary innovations in engineering. Presentations by distinguished speakers on applications of nanomaterials in healthcare, energy and environment and design and development of networks for real world problems have left deep impact on the participants. Presentations from delegated across various institutions during these three days revealed the amazing diversity of innovative applications in interdisciplinary fields. He also discussed how advanced techniques like data analytics and artificial intelligence have accelerated research and development of Covid 19 vaccine as well.
Prof. Harish Kumar presented the formal vote of thanks for the ICIIIE 2020 valedictory program and expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, organisers, researchers and students .
