Chandigarh, March 21, 2024: University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, one of the region’s top B-schools which is dedicated to providing top-notch education in the field of management sciences, organized International Conference on Sustainability and Sustainable Development in India: Past, Present and Future on Thursday at ICSSR Complex, PU Chandigarh Panjab University.
The conference covered a wide array of sub-themes, including sustainability in finance, marketing, human resource management, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in which more than 150 participants presented their academic research.
In the welcome address, Professor Parmjit Kaur, Chairperson of the University Business School emphasized the pivotal role of sustainable practices in economic, social, and environmental progress, highlighting India's journey from grappling with developmental challenges to embracing sustainability principles in its financial landscape. She underscored the insights of Wellford (1993), highlighting the possibility of harmonizing development and environmental protection through sustainable strategies. Additionally, she also shared the research findings of Michael Porter, emphasizing the critical role of innovation and industry capacity in determining a nation's competitiveness across various sectors.
Dr. Tilak Raj, Conference Coordinator & Associate Professor, UBS, Panjab University Chandigarh introduced the Theme of the Conference elucidated the importance and relevance of Sustainability and Sustainable Development in today’s time.
The esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Prof. Harsh Nayyar, Director, Research & Development Cell, Panjab University Chandigarh graced the occasion. He emphasized on the institutional development plans as the institutions play pivotal role in the sustainable development of India. Institutions should focus on the Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to make the country successful and developed.
