International Divyang Diwas celebrated in Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre
The Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development celebrated International Divyang Diwas at the Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre in Haibowal Kalan on Tuesday.
Ludhiana, December 3, 2024: The Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development celebrated International Divyang Diwas at the Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre in Haibowal Kalan on Tuesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi, who presided over the district-level event, emphasized that Divyangjans are an integral part of our society. He stated that the administration is working tirelessly to improve their lives and highlighted that these individuals should not be viewed as disabled but rather as specially-abled persons. He stressed their entitlement to the same rights as everyone else and acknowledged that they possess unique abilities that need to be harnessed properly to integrate them into the mainstream. He assured that the administration would leave no stone unturned in this direction.
Dr. Bedi encouraged the public to adopt a compassionate attitude and to treat these individuals with respect. He expressed that it was a momentous occasion for him to be among them to celebrate the day and distributed gifts and warm clothes to the participants.
District Social Security Officer Inderpreet Kaur informed that more than 100 visually impaired students participated in various cultural activities, including dance, poetry recitation, and singing. The students were also honoured with sweets and mementos by the chief guest.
