International Mother Language Day collaboratively celebrated at Guru Hargobind Khalsa College
The International Mother Language Day was collaboratively celebrated by the Punjabi, Hindi, and English departments at Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar (Ludhiana).
Ludhiana, February 22, 2024: The International Mother Language Day was collaboratively celebrated by the Punjabi, Hindi, and English departments at Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar (Ludhiana).
The event commenced in the college seminar hall, featuring the rendition of the college Shabad 'Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Eha.' Subsequently, Dr. Rajinder Singh 'Sahil' provided historical insights into International Mother Language Day, extending a warm welcome to all attendees.
The program encompassed poetry recitations and paper-reading competitions among students, accentuating the paramount importance of mother languages. In the poetry recitation competition, Reena Kaur 'Ball' secured the first position, followed by Navjot Kaur in second place, and Ramnpreet Kaur in third. Meanwhile, in the paper-reading competition, Charanpreet Singh claimed the first position, Amanpreet Kaur secured the second position, and Muskan attained the third position. Gurman Singh was honored with the Consolation prize.
Principal Prof. Inderjit Singh, underscoring the significance of promoting linguistic diversity in politics, emphasized that the three language departments collectively celebrated International Mother Language Day, conveying a powerful message of global solidarity.
The judging panel, comprising Dr. Gurmit Singh Hundal, Dr. Sohan Singh, Prof. Gursheen Kaur, Prof. Amritpal Singh, Prof. Vishwapreet Kaur, and Prof. Anchal Jamdagani, played a pivotal role in the success of the event.
Dr. Gurmeet Singh Hundal expressed gratitude on behalf of everyone present at the culmination of the event. Noteworthy dignitaries, including Prof. S. K. Gupta, Dr. Rajwant Singh, Dr. Baljit Singh, Prof. Navjit Singh, Prof. Tejinder Singh, among others, graced the occasion.
