Ludhiana, November 17, 2014: International Scientist on optimisation techniques and Professor (Dr)C.R Bector, Professor Emeritus in the Asper School of Business University of Manitoba Canada delivered his discourse on the Truncated Probability to the students of M.Sc Mathematics of SCD Government College Ludhiana.

Dr. Bector explained in detailed the possibilities of taking the research problems with the help of truncated probability. He emphasised that students should take the problems from real life and taking the interdisciplinary approach must try to conquer them with their research ideas.  

Earlier in the beginning of the lecture Head of the Mathematics department Urmil Chibber welcome Dr. Bector in the department and highlighted the achievements of her departments. After that an interactive session was organised with Dr. Bector in which Dr. Satya rani, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics shared her ideas of research in mathematics. Dr. Gursharanjit Singh Sandhu Professor in the Department of Mathematics discussed his mathematical research problems with Dr.Bector and seek guidance to conquer them. 

Kamal Kishore, Associate Professor   in the department of Mathematics also share his views with Dr. Bector. Later Dr. C.R.Bector also interacted with the M. Com (Business Innovations) Students in the Department of Business innovations. While introducing Dr. Bector to the students, Dr.Ashwani Bhalla Programme Coordinator of the department of Business Innovations   told that Dr. C.R. Bector has  been recently awarded PCMA Life time Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of management sciences. While interacting with the Business Innovations students Dr. Bector emphasised on Idea Generation and translating the problems effectively. He said students should share the problems with each other and discuss it with the faculty members.  He explained withthe help of live examples how interdisciplinary approach can lead to good research results.  He took the examples of Einstein, Newton to explain his view of research. He also explained to  the students the possible areas of management research in the field of  marketing and finance. Principal Dr. Dharam singh Sandhu express his heartiest thanks to Dr.Bector for his visit to the College and express continuance relationship with University of Manitoba and SCD Government College Ludhiana. Among others who were present on the Occasion include Jaipal Singh Associate Professor in the department of Physics and faculty members from the department of commerce and mathematics.
