Jalandhar, September 29, 2023: PG Department of English, Doaba College Jalandhar, organized an International seminar entitled "Using AI Ethically to Enhance Presentation Skills". Dr. Patrick Corbett, Assistant Professor, English Professional and Technical Writing, New York City College of Technology, CUNY acted as resource person and Dr. Nakul Kundra, Associate Professor, Central University, Allahabad and alumnus, Doaba College, Guest of honour.
The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Ira Sharma- Head, Prof. Sandeep Chahal- Seminar Coordinator, Faculty and Students.
The event began with the lamp lighting and floral welcome of the dignitaries by Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari, Prof. Ira Sharma, Prof. Sandeep Chahal, faculty members and students.
Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari said that India has excelled in the global scenario of the age of Artificial Intelligence, Space Science and Technological Inovations the students will get ample opportunities to interact with learned foreign faculty in future. He motivated them to interact with Key Speakers in such fruitful seminars like this as organized by the Department of English. Prof. Sandeep Chahal highlighted Dr. Patrick Corbett’s expertise in the field of in the field of professional communication, writing skills and usage of Artificial Intelligence tools to make meaningful design platforms while creating effective presentations.
In his keynote address, Dr. Patrick Corbett gave a highly enlightening presentation. Dr. Corbett emphasized that Artificial Intelligence allows one to work efficiently but it should be used ethically. He discussed Canva as a powerful graphic design platform alongwith Gamma. He motivated the students to prepare, learn, re-learn and practise to enhance their presentation skills as AI cannot replace human beings. Dr. Corbett also inspired students to learn from their failures in order to achieve greater success in life.
Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari, Prof. Ira Sharma, Prof. Sandeep Chahal and faculty members presented memento to Dr. Patrick Corbett and Dr. Nakul Kundra. The event culminated with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ira Sharma. Prof. Sandeep Chahal conducted the stage.
