Chandigarh, March 18, 2025: The Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with International Ambedkarites’ Network organised ICSSR sponsored two days International Seminar on “The Quest from Educational Justice in the Scenario of Marginality and Migration: In the Context of Gandhian Philosophy”. 

The seminar brought together scholars, academicians and researchers from various disciplines not only from India but also from all over the world to discuss the pressing issues of educational justice in the context of the marginalised committees & migration using Gandhian Philosophy as a guiding framework.

The event featured multiple plenary and technical sessions, parallel discussions and one online session, providing platform for cultural exchange and cultural analysis.

In the Inaugural session, key speaker Professor Ronki Ram delivered his address on “Expounding the Phenomenon of Punjab Out Migration (Emigration): An Analytical Evaluation”. Chief Guest Professor K.C Agnihotri and Professor Sanjay Kaushik set stage for thought provoking deliberations relating to the various parameters of marginality and migration in the Gandhian Perspective.

In the Plenary Session the panelist Dr. Herbert B. Rosana from Phillippines, Dr. Amanda Carl-Wilcoxison, Professor Jorge Kaffes from Greece, Prof. Manoj Kumar Teotia, Dr.Itika, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Chander, Dr. Navneet Sharma, Prof. R. K. Gupta, Dr. Jagdish Khatri and Dr.Charanpreet Singh discussed on various aspects relating to the theme of the Seminar.

On second day, the seminar successfully provided a platform for scholar and researcher to engage in meaningful discussions on perusing educational and social issues. 

Various scholars from Australia, Nepal and from other parts of India presented their views on the subject.

In the Valedictory Session, PU Registrar Professor Y.P. Verma, FDO CA (Dr.) Vikram Nayyar, and Former Vice-Chancellor Baba Mastnath University, Rohtak Professor R.S. Yadav, highlighted the need for inclusive policies community decision, solutions and reviewed focuses on ethical and value-based education to bridge existing inequalities. They focused on that we have to re-interpretate, re-orient and extend Gandhi Philosophy in the present context. Character building is the most important to make impact not on oneself but on the life of others.
