Jalandhar: An International Webinar on “COVID-19: Neurological Perspectives of Pathology and Management” was organized by Post Graduate Department of Biotechnology, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, Punjab.
Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College was the guest of honour of this webinar. The resource person of the session was Dr. Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, Michigan, USA.
Dr. Inderjeet Kaur coordinator of the webinar welcomed Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, resource person Dr. Jaspreet Singh and the attendees. The session started with opening remarks by Dr. Arun Dev Sharma, Coordinator cum Head department of biotechnology. Afterwards Dr. Samra addressed the participants and appealed to maintain social distancing in order to avoid further dissemination of virus. He also suggested taking full precautions regarding the safety measures as prescribed by Govt. and health department for a better welfare of the nation. Dr. Jaspreet Singh discussed about the structural components of coronavirus along with its background, epidemiology, Neurotropism, therapy and vaccine. He enlightened the participants with a harsh reality that our urban and global society increases opportunities for dissemination of the pandemic. Furthermore, he elaborated his discussion by giving emphasis on discoveries related to SARS-CoV2 pathogenicity and its management approaches. He made his presentation very informative and vivacious by sharing case studies related to viral infections. Further, he threw light on the use of antiviral therapeutics drugs and issues related with vaccine development. At the end, he concluded his talk by an interactive session with the participants and made a plea to participants to safe yourself by following WHO guidelines.
