KMV organises an International Webinar to spread awareness about environmental protection and acknowledge the global climate crisis
Jalandhar, April 28, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an International Webinar to spread awareness about environmental protection and acknowledge the global climate crisis. The webinar was organised by PG Department of Botany.
Dr. Gagandeep Jain, Program Coordinator Horticulture Sciences, Franklin Institute of Agritechnology, Pukekohe, Auckland (New Zealand) was the resource person for the webinar. He opened his lecture with the introduction of evolution of agricultural practices & explained about the plant diseases and exponentially increased consumption of chemicals and fertilizers throughout the world, causing serious environmental problems. Further he discussed about the solutions to problems like hydroponics, vertical gardens, green house practices and how students can contribute to these practices. He said that as hydroponic farming is soil-less practice it saves our earth from the harmful chemicals, soil erosion & water wastage. He further said that Vertical Gardens are the need of present time & with the increase in population the availability of land is decreasing but to feed this huge population vertical garden is the best alternative available.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing such a valuable knowledge with the students. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of PG Department of Botany for successfully organising the international webinar.
