International Women's Day celebrated at RGC

Ludhiana: International Women's Day is observed worldwide on March 8 every year. NSS Unit of RGC also celebrated Women's Day in association with The Department of Higher Education and Languages, Punjab University, Chandigarh.  
Principal Dr. Rajeshwarpal Kaur was the chief guest.  President of Ramgarhia Educational Council S. Ranjodh Singh was also among the esteemed guests.

The program was celebrated as per the theme 'Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in COVID-19  World by Social Security,  Women and Child Development Department of Punjab Government. A lecture was organized on health and nutrition where Prof. Ritu Sood, HOD, Home Science, gave tips regarding diet plans for women in 40s and 50s.  She said that in this age women should take extra care of themselves so that the deficiencies that occur in this phase can be easily avoided following the correct diet plan.Later Prof. Preetika from Department of E.C.C.E. gave tips regarding diet plans for women in 20s and 30s age group. Explaining the benefits of healthy diet she said that it is crucial for each female to adapt healthy eating habits in this phase so that one can stay away from ailments in the long run. Along with this  Yoga demo was given by Advocate Raman Moldi. He demonstrated various exercises that take less time but are highly beneficial for various age health issues that women face today. 

S. Ranjodh Singh in his addressal praised the women of today and said that they are touching every zenith that was thought to be impossible for  a female to achieve. There are numerous examples of such brave women around us.

Principal Dr. Rajeshwarpal Kaur asserted that it is an era of women empowerment and we are witnessing changes in terms of the plight of women like never before. Still as the educated members of the society we must strive hard to ensure a secure future for women in the society. Staff members also actively participated in the program  Prof.Shivani from Department of Maths recited Kamla Bhasin's poem "Kya Mai Makeup Karti Hu" , Prof Harsimran Kaur from Department of Punjabi Dr. Radhika Sharma from Department of History and Prof. Sheetal Sharma from Department of Dance shared their experiences with everyone. At the end questions regarding health and nutrition were also answered.
