International Yoga Day celebrated with gusto at PAU
International Yoga Day was celebrated with a great gusto by the students of Hostel No. 6 and the Department of Biochemistry, staff of the Skill Development Centre (SDC) and the members of PAU Kisan Club. About 40 farmers and staff of SDC attended the event.
Ludhiana, June 22, 2023: International Yoga Day was celebrated with a great gusto by the students of Hostel No. 6 and the Department of Biochemistry, staff of the Skill Development Centre (SDC) and the members of PAU Kisan Club. About 40 farmers and staff of SDC attended the event.
Under “My Hostel My Home” theme, the training session was conducted by two volunteers Taman and Dr Sukriti Kataria of “Art of Living” for the students. An interactive session was also conducted in which students not only performed different yoga asanas but were also enlightened on the benefits of each.
Naresh Joshi, a yoga instructor, and Ms Preeti from Rishikesh Yoga Matt, informed that how yoga helped in keeping the diseases at bay. Later, they performed yoga asanas, pranayam and sadhanas.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development) and Dr Kiran Grover, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, stressed upon consuming healthy diet for food and nutritional security, and balanced mind and body.
Dr Sonia Kaushal, Chemist, Department of Chemistry, provided knowledge about seven chakras and 10-15 yoga asanas along with their health benefits.
Dr Rimaljeet Kaur, Biochemist, dwelt upon origin and historical perspectives of yoga.
The Hostel Warden, Dr Priya Katyal advised the students to inculcate a habit of doing physical exercises in their daily routine to get energized and lead a stress-free healthy life.
While proposing a vote of thanks, Dr Sucheta Sharma, Professor of Biochemistry, highlighted the importance of yoga practices for physical and mental wellbeing.
