Rohtak, March 3, 2025: Filming not only entertaining, but educational content is possible through short films and reels. Great short films can be made on social and environmental subjects. Internationally renowned documentary producer-director and MDU alumnus Rakesh Andania expressed these views while sharing the tricks of making environmental conservation as well as wildlife focused short films and reels. He was speaking at the Filmmaking (Short Film and Reels Production) workshop organized by MDU’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department.

 

Expert speaker Rakesh Andaniya said best filming is possible today through smart phones. He explained filmmaking especially on environmental concerns, examples of other film directors including iconic environmental filmmaker Mike Pandey.

 

On the first day of this two-day workshop, Rakesh Andaniya highlighted the technical nuances of filmmaking including camera work. He also shared information about mobile journalism. Q&A dialogue session was also held with students.

 

Presiding over the workshop, Chairperson of Department and convener of this workshop, Prof. Harish Kumar said that the mobile revolution has introduced new dimensions in the public communication sector. Entertainment as well as educational-social content can be shared through reels. Short films and reels production is paving the way for self-employment.

 

Professor Sunit Mukherjee coordinated the workshop. He said the two-day workshop is important for students' skill development and capacity enrichment. PRO Pankaj Nain, Dr. Meenu from Nehru PG College, Jhajjar and Dr Sumit from LN Hindu College, Rohtak, alongwith students of the department and affiliated colleges were present in the workshop.
