Chandigarh, February 1, 2024: The Criminal Justice Practicum Cell at the University Institute of Legal Studies recently hosted an engaging intra-departmental youth parliament competition, focusing on the critical issues of marital rape and harassment against men. The event took place from January 29th to 31st, providing a platform for youth to voice their perspectives on these sensitive matters.
Distinguished alumni, Adv. Lakshya Dhalia and Adv. Vaibhav Bansal, presided over the sessions, witnessing spirited debates and discussions. The competition garnered enthusiastic participation from students across all years, showcasing their dedication and vigour.
The valedictory ceremony, held on January 31st, 2023, featured Chief Guest Shri. Davesh Maudgill, who addressed and felicitated the students. Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, Director UILS, Dr. Anupam Bahri and Dr. Purushottam Gaur. also shared insights during the event.
The success of the competition can be attributed to the relentless efforts of the Core Team, led by Porush Jain (President), Samiksha Singh (Convener), and Deepanshi Kalra (Co-convener), supported by event co-coordinators Prerna Panwar, Dheeraj Singla, and Disha Jain.
