Introduce President’s Rule in Punjab, urges Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal to PM Modi

Ludhiana, November 5, 2022: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) has urged upon Prime Minister to announce the President’s Rule in Punjab where law and order situation has deteriorated badly, particularly after formation of the AAP-led government in the state.

Addressing the media persons here today, the mandal’s state general secretary Sunil Mehra, district general secretary Surinder Aggarwal and other leaders namely Praveen Sharma and Ramesh Mahajan strongly condemned the yesterday’s incident in which Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead by an assailant outside a temple in Amritsar.

They said that it was height of the lawlessness because the broad daylight murder took place in the very presence of the Punjab police personnel. They said earlier too, a series of incidents have occurred in the state after formation of the AAP-led government in Punjab. As a result, there prevailed insecurity among the traders and businessmen not only in Punjab but also among those who have to frequently come to Punjab for business and trading purpose.

The PPBM leaders pointed out that the existing law and order situation was rendering a great loss to the local business community of the state as traders from outside state were fearing to come here due to the prevailing circumstances.  They said earlier, the state’s business community had suffered heavily due to the pandemic situation and lockdowns. Besides, the state’s business community was also under economic burden due to several reasons, including inflated power supply bills etc.

They said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Punjab today, adding that they hoped that he must have been briefed about the deteriorated law and order situation. Therefore, they urged the Prime Minister to introduce the President’s Rule in Punjab to safeguard lives and properties of people of the state. They feared that the situation might further deteriorate like that was in 80s if timely and suitable measures were not taken. They said it was the right time to take a suitable action so that business community of the state should work fearlessly.

Further, they pointed out that business could flourish only if the state's law and order was normal. Already, many industries and industrial labour have migrated to other states due to faulty policies of the state government over the period.
