“IoT is the future and Cybersecurity, should be the whole nation’s approach,” said Lt General (Dr) Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India at the IoT Summit organised by CII Northern Region today.
New Delhi, April 5, 2023: “IoT is the future and Cybersecurity, should be the whole nation’s approach,” said Lt General (Dr) Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India at the IoT Summit organised by CII Northern Region today. He mentioned that asset visibility is important to protect enterprises from cyberthreat, cyberspace is growing exponentially. He added that cybersecurity must never be compromised and 5G technology will be connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) that will be installed in homes. Moreover, industrial IoT will be operational in manufacturing, healthcare, and other sectors as well, he shared.
In his address, Abhishek Singh, President & CEO, National e-Governance Divison & MD & CEO, Digital India Corporation, MeitY, Government of India said that the Expansion of 5G will help IoT devices to communicate and share data faster than ever. He added that for smart mobility, multiple application is required, and we need to engage IoT device manufacturers which can be helpful for AI.
In his welcome remarks, Dr Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Summit Chairman & Chairman, IET Future Tech Panel mentioned that IoT has now matured, with an ecosystem in place, and business models defined. He added that it is now an important action for an organisation’s strategy. The spread of IoT is progressing day by day, IoT is evolving to incorporate increasingly greater aspects of the business ecosystem said Dr Bhatnagar.
Speaking at the Inaugural session, Ashutosh Chadha, Summit Co-Chairman and Director & Country Head, Microsoft said, “Pervasiveness, vulnerability, cloud connectivity of IoT, and Operational Technology (OT) are rapidly expanding the risk surface, affecting industries and organisations. While the prevalence of IoT and OT vulnerabilities presents a challenge for all organisations, critical infrastructure is at increased risk he added. As the cybercriminal economy expands and malicious software becomes more prevalent and easier to use, threat actors have more varied ways of mounting large-scale attacks.”
Kalyan Muppaneni, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Pi Datacenters and Founder, Exatron Server Manufacturing in his address mentioned that IoT is more than just a buzzword in today's world. IoT is not just about putting RFID tags on objects; it's about embedding intelligence so that things become more competent and do more than they were designed to do, he shared.
In his remarks, Jayasankar Pillai, Partner IoT & Analytics, IBM India, said that IoT & Connected ecosystem is introducing new products and services to the market, bringing operational effectiveness, and ensuring continued customer engagement resulting in differentiation and improved profitability. He opined that it would revolutionise the industrial sector with newer service levels, the social sector with improved citizen engagement capability and the services sector with new business opportunities thus improving overall country competitiveness.
The summit brought together policymakers, regulators, industry captains, and subject experts from Jio Platforms, KPMG, Deloitte, Tata Communications, Infosys, Hughes Systique, Tata Steel, and others. The summit aimed to provide a platform for discussions on IoT growing landscape revolutionising the digital landscape and connecting technology to drive universal connectivity.
