Dharamshala: With the Tata IPL T20 matches set to be hosted at the picturesque Dharamshala Cricket Stadium next month, preparations are gaining momentum. A high-level meeting was held on Thursday between the District Administration and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) to review arrangements for the upcoming event.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, who chaired the meeting, informed that three IPL matches are scheduled in Dharamshala on May 4, May 8, and May 11. He assured that enhanced facilities will be provided for both players and spectators during the matches.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for meticulous planning and directed all departments to complete necessary preparations well in time. Key focus areas include law and order, traffic and parking management, healthcare services, electricity and drinking water supply, road repairs, sanitation, and fire safety measures.
He specifically instructed the police department to ensure robust security arrangements and asked the Public Works Department to expedite repair work on roads around the stadium. “All roads and lighting systems in Dharamshala and nearby areas will be in optimal condition before the event,” he said.
A comprehensive parking plan has also been drawn up. AC to DC (AC2DC) informed that all designated parking areas will be clearly marked and equipped with proper signage to guide spectators from exit points to parking zones.
In terms of fire safety, officials from the fire department have been directed to carry out thorough inspections and ensure all emergency measures are in place at the stadium.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shalini Agnihotri briefed the gathering on the security arrangements, including traffic and parking plans. The meeting also saw participation from Municipal Corporation Commissioner Zafar Iqbal, HPCA officials, and representatives from various departments.
The district administration aims to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for fans and ensure smooth execution of all three IPL matches in the hill city.
