IRRIGATION: Punjab announces rotational irrigation programme from Jan 11 to 18

Chandigarh, January 10, 2013: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme for irrigation for the Rabbi Season through Canal water from 11-1-2013 to 18-1-2013. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch, Patiala Feeder and Abohar Branch, respectively.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Irrigation Department said that direct distributaries of BML, in Group ‘A’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor of Group ‘B’ respectively.

The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and Branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozpur Head Works, all the direct Distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’ being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/minors, in Group ‘B’.

The spokesman also said that the in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system, Lahore Branch with their distributaries, being in the 1^st preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Main Branch Lower, Kasur Branch Lower and Sabhroan Branch with its distributaries, respectively.
