In an effort to encourage citizens to vote on June 1 in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections and raise awareness, the district administration in association with NGO Initiators of Change and the Harley Davidson Riders club of Ludhiana organized a bike rally on Sunday evening under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

Ludhiana, May 13, 2024: In an effort to encourage citizens to vote on June 1 in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections and raise awareness, the district administration in association with NGO Initiators of Change and the Harley Davidson Riders club of Ludhiana organized a bike rally on Sunday evening under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. 

The bike rally had around 100 riders and commenced from the DC Office and crossed from Bhai wala Chownk - Hero Bakery Chownk - Malhar road, PAU gate number 2 - Verka Booth - Wave Mall - PAU Gate number 1 - Aarti Chowk - Bharat Nagar Chowk and Guru Nanak stadium.

District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that it was an effort towards creating awareness among the general public about their voting rights. She said that under the SVEEP program maximum efforts were being made to motivate the voters to exercise their franchise to strengthen democracy at the grass-root level on June 1.

Sawhney said that democracy could be successful only if only all stakeholders especially the young voters participate in the poll process with full zeal and enthusiasm. She said that the aim of the district administration was to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
