`Iss Baar, 70 Paar': Admn conducts mass awareness drive at Pavilion mall; ADC appeals public to vote for their better future

Ludhiana, April 14, 2024: With the district administration working to spread awareness among masses, a unique voter awareness program was organised at Pavilion mall on Sunday.
With an aim to achieve the target of over 70 percent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar), the administration urged the residents to step out to cast their vote on June 1 not only for themselves, but the better future of the future generations.
Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, ADC Major Amit Sareen, ADC Rupinder Pal Singh, Assistant Commissioner Krishna Pal Rajpoot among others participated in the drive and appealed to the residents to exercise their 'Right to Vote'.
Wishing 'Happy Baisakhi' to residents, cultural performances were also given by students/NGO members to spread voter awareness. Quiz competition was organised wherein the residents were asked questions related to elections. Prizes were also distributed among the winners.
Awareness activities and cultural performances were also held by members of NGO Initiators of Change led by Gauravdeep Singh.
Flexes/selfie corners were established at different points of the mall with a message to encourage the residents to vote.
While appealing the residents to vote for a stronger democracy, ADC Major Amit Sareen said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
DEO Sawhney said that the aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
The eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.
DEO Sawhney further said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence.
