Hundreds of women participated in two-wheeler voter awareness rally organised in the areas falling under Ludhiana South constituency on Thursday.
Ludhiana, May 16, 2024: Hundreds of women participated in two-wheeler voter awareness rally organised in the areas falling under Ludhiana South constituency on Thursday.
The rally was flagged off by Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) of Ludhiana South constituency Inder Pal.
The rally commenced from Ishar Nagar and concluded in Giaspura area after moving through different areas of Ludhiana South constituency. Hundreds of women participated in the rally to sensitise the residents to vote for a stronger democracy.
The participants were holding placards in their hands through which they appealed the public to exercise their Right to Vote on the polling day (June 1).
Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal and ARO Inder Pal said that the two-wheeler rally was organised on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney and the aim was to sensitise the residents about importance of voting.
The rally organised under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. ARO Inder Pal said that different awareness activities are being conducted in the district to spread awareness among the residents.
The aim of the district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
Reiterating the commitment of the district administration to hold free, fair and transparent elections, DEO Sawhney said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations. She further appealed the residents to cast their votes without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence.
