It’s very important to save youth of country from brain drain: Anurag Singh Thakur
Says it is only possible by propagating brain gain programme by developing the soft skills of the youth. He was addressing 65th Convocation of Doaba College, Jalandhar today.
Jalandhar, September 20, 2022: 65th Convocation of Doaba College, Jalandhar was organized in Virendra Auditorium today. Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Sports & Youth Affairs graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, SDM- Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Manoranjan Kalia, KD Bhandari, Susheel Sharma, Sarabjit Singh Makar, Dr. SP Gupta as Guest of Honour. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Chander Mohan- President- College Managing Committee, Dhruv Mittal- Treasurer, Dr. Sushma Chawla- Vice President and Dr. Satpal Gupta, Ashim Sondhi- Member, Managing Committee, Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari and teachers.
Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari formally welcomed the dignitaries and read the annual report of the various activities in the college. Dr. Bhandari said that Anurag Singh Thakur did his BA in 1994 and MA Political Science in 1996 from Doaba College and has brought laurels to entire North India in the field of Cricket, Social Work and Politics with his consistence hard work.
Presiding over the function Chander Mohan said, “Entire Doaba Fraternity is proud of its alumnus and renowned statesman Anurag Singh Thakur who has carved a niche for himself and is now source of inspiration to numerous students.”
Chief Guest Anurag Thakur said that India has entered the era of Women Empowerment which is very well exemplified by the fact that women are ahead in Sports, Academics and other arenas and this is a befitting picture of New India.
Anurag Thakur said the Government of India has brought a very effective and fruitful New Education Policy for the betterment of Education after 34 years which will be revolutionary step to giving impetus to sports education and regional languages. He said the Central Government is fully focused to provide more job opportunities to the youth of the country through Skill India Development Programme. He said that it is very important to save the youth of the country from brain drain and it is only possible by propagating brain gain programme by developing the soft skills of the youth. He said in just eight years the Government of India has successfully catapulted the economy of country at number 5 in the word which was earlier at 11th place. He said the populace of the has done a great job by following an adopting digital mode of payment right from lower class to upper class thereby showing the entire world that India is number one in digital transactions.
Chander Mohan, Dhruv Mittal, Ashim Sondhi, Dr. Sushma Chawla and Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari conferred Doaba Award cum Silver Plaque to its renowned alumnus Anurga Singh Thakur.
Chander Mohan, Dhruv Mittal, Ashim Sondhi, Dr. Sushma Chawla and Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari presented degrees to total 552 students session 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 out of which 372 were of Under Graduate and 180 of Post Graduate classes.
