JAC decided to withhold Roll Numbers of 2 lakh SC students because of Nonpayment of 1850 Crore of 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20

Ludhiana: Because of non disbursement of Post Matric  Scholarship (PMS) of over 1850 crores pertaining to 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 of around 2 lakh SC students of Punjab might face problems in forthcoming examinations.

 

Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, Joint Association of Colleges (JAC) &   S. Jagjit Singh, President, JAC said that JAC has decided to withhold the Roll. Numbers of all those students who have studied in 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 & Punjab Government have not reimbursed the scholarship amount to these students.

 

Dhaliwal & Jagjit further said that how can they keep on teaching the students when neither government nor students are paying fee to colleges?

 

 Dr. Anshu Kataria, Co- Chairman, JAC said that the decision regarding this was taken in zoom meeting which was attended by all 13 association representing 1600 unaided colleges.

 

S. Manjit Singh, Patron, JAC said that not only this, the 90 crore of PMS of 202 0-21 which was meant for students studying in various technical courses has not been reimbursed. The centre government has already paid this amount to Punjab 2-3 months back.

 

S. Sukhmander Singh Chatha, Secretary General, JAC said that in 2020-21 also the govt has disbursed some part of PMS amount in students account in absence of clear instructions to students & the students are not paying that amount to colleges.

 

JAC further clarified that because of non issuance of Roll. Numbers if future of any students is spoiled then the entire responsibility would be of Punjab Government as they cannot teach 2 lakh students for 3-4 years without charging fee.
