JAIL MINISTER EXHORTS VOTERS OF PUNJAB NOT TO VOTE FOR AN “ADDICTED” CANDIDATE

SAYS CONGRESS WILL NOT SUPPORT ADADICTED CANDIDATES Ferozepur, August 2, 2018: Sukhjinder Singh Radhawa, Minister for Jails and co-operative societies exhorted the voters of Punjab not to vote for an “addicted” candidate during the upcoming Panchayat polls. Talking about “Drug Free Punjab”, Randhawa said that “Drug Free Punjab” can be imagined only if the villages of our Punjab are “Drug Free”. He said that the congress party will support to only those candidates who will clear their dope test before the elections. Randhawa was here in this border town to attend a district level programme organized by district administration under mission “Nasha Mukt Tandrust Punjab”. He was accompanied by Parminder Singh Pinki, Congress MLA from Ferozepur (Urban), Kulbir Singh Zira, Congress MLA from Zira, Satkar Kaur Gehri, Congress MLA from Ferozepur (Rural) and other senior leaders from Congress. Randhawa claimed that the state government is putting all the efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the state. He said that without the support of the people of Punjab it is very difficult to free Punjab from the deadly clutches of drugs. “Be it a politician or any other influential person or whosoever is involved in drug trade, people should inform the police about these elements”, said Randhawa. Talking about some other burning issues including sand mining, education of children in border area, Randhawa said that nobody is above law and strict action will be taken against those who are involved in illegal sand mining. Randhawa said that the state government is determined to provide all the facilities to border area students so that they could also rise in life. He also urged the people to get their wards admitted in government schools so that the standards of education in government schools could be raised. The cabinet minister also paid an abrupt visit to a local private de-addiction centre where he issued instructions to the health department regarding dope test of the doctors and staff working in this hospital and use of banned medicines in the hospital. On this occasion Sumer Singh Gurjar Commissioner Ferozepur, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Deputy Commissioner, Gurmit Singh Multani ADC (G) Ferozepur, Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, ADC (D), Narinder Singh SDM Ferozepur, Amit Gupta, SDM Zira, Ranjit Singh Assistant Commissioner, Jasmel Singh Ladi Gehri, Gurnaib Brar and other congress workers were present.
