Ludhiana, July 12, 2024: Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has termed chief minister Bhagwant Mann's desperation for a bypoll win as moral defeat for a state government so sure of its misrule of two and half years during which it has plunged the state into the quagmire of communal strife, lawlessness and administrative apathy.
"In my long career as a politician, I have never seen a chief minister so despondent that he had to camp in the constituency in a rented house, Jakhar said here during his interaction with mediapersons.
Will the chief minister take rented accommodation in all other bypolls too which are going to happen soon, Jakhar quipped adding that people of Jalandhar have seen the true face of AAP which has nothing to offer except hollow promises and fake propaganda. Punjab BJP President was interacting with the media here after the State Executive meeting.
Thanking the people of Punjab for supporting the party in big numbers in Lok Sabha Polls, Jakhar assured that it is the duty and responsibility of each one of us to fulfil this trust and hope of all Punjabis to make our state regain its lost glory by making Punjab stronger by taking every section of people along.
Earlier, during the meeting a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being elected to lead the nation for a third straight term was also passed.
Stressing that dialogue is the way forward for effective resolution of all issues being faced by Punjab, Jakhar said that farmers, agricultural scientists and economists must be taken on board to evolve a consensual resolution.
Responding to a media query, Jakhar said people must be wary of so-called leaders who misappropriate the name of religion to hoodwink people. Punjab's cherished ethos of communal brotherhood and unity must be preserved by one and all, Jakhar said cautioning against proliferation of radical sentiment under AAP in Punjab.
“We are a distinct state and being a border state our needs are different,” BJP state chief said, urging the state government to wake up and rein in the wave of terror unleashed in the state with daily killings, robberies, dacoities being reported with alarming regularity.
