Jakhar urges CM to not wait for girdawari and immediately disburse centre funds to mitigate flood suffering
The newly appointed State BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar today lambasted Bhagwant Mann led AAP government and accused them for grievous flood situation despite timely alerts. He said that while people across state were fighting for survival after losing their homes and belongings, the social media savvy AAP Leaders were busy in photo-ops, adding that the people today need immediate relief and not Photo stunts.
Ferozepur, July 14, 2023: The newly appointed State BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar today lambasted Bhagwant Mann led AAP government and accused them for grievous flood situation despite timely alerts. He said that while people across state were fighting for survival after losing their homes and belongings, the social media savvy AAP Leaders were busy in photo-ops, adding that the people today need immediate relief and not Photo stunts.
Jakhar minced no words and said that state government should not wait for “Girdawari” and provide immediate interim relief to all those who have suffered losses. He also urged Chief Minister for ensuring crop damage compensation to farmers in border areas who do not possess “Girdawari” documents. During his whirlwind tour of flood affected areas,
Jakhar visited villages in Ferozepur, Zira and Shahkot to take stock of situation during which he interacted with people on ground and assured them of taking up their fight for effective and timely compensation with the state government which he said had been caught napping from the word go.
“The people of Punjab are asking the CM Mann that why he did not review the preparation of floods despite alerts by the Meteorological Department on July 4, followed by an Orange alert on July 6. Had the CM timely reviewed the situation and ordered necessary measures, the situation would not have turned so distressing today”, said Jakhar.
Jakhar thanked the PM Modi for timely release of Rs. 218.40 Crores by exempting required conditions just to ensure prompt redressal of problems being faced by Punjabis.
On this occasion, Jakhar was accompanied by senior leaders including Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Former MLA Sukhpal Singh Nannu, District president Avtar Singh Zira, Distt president Jalandhar Rural Pankaj Dhingra, former.MLA and Jalandhar Lok Sabha candidate Inder Iqbal Atwal.
