Speaking on the returning back of the Wave WKL to Jalandhar, Pargat Singh, Commissioner, Wave WKL, said, “Fans in Jalandhar has always been of great support for any sports and when it comes to Kabaddi we have seen fantastic support and turnaround. This time we have match of Lahore Lions on all the three days and thus I am hopeful it will be an exciting weekend for all the Kabaddi lovers.”
Jalandhar, October 16, 2014: Lahore Lions will play three matches in as many days as a bonanza of seven matches awaits the Wave World Kabaaddi League fans in Jalandhar this week.
Lahore Lions, who have played the least number of matches, ten, so far will feature on each of the three days. Lahore has 12 points and are in fourth place, while Khalsa Warriors, who have been dominant in the inaugural Wave WKL, have 25 points from 14 matches. United Singhs and California Eagles have 14 points each from 12 and 13 matches respectively.
The triple header will see two matches each on Friday and Saturday and three on Sunday.
Khalsa Warriors have put in an amazing all-around performance as three of their Raiders figure in the top-five of the Wave WKL and similarly three of their Stoppers figure in top-five Stoppers of the League.
With soaring TV ratings and spectacular fan following Wave WKL Jalandhar leg will witness three day action packed weekend.
One of the strongest team of the league Lahore Lions will play three matches while Punjab Thunder, Yo Yo Tigers, California Eagles, Royal Kings USA and United Singhs will play two matches during this weekend. Table topper Khalsa Warriors will play one match against Royal Kings USA in this Jalandhar leg.
The lower half of the table has Punjab Thunder, Vancouver Lions and Yo Yo Tigers hold the fifth to seventh places while Royal Kings USA is placed at the bottom with 5 points on the table.
Speaking on the returning back of the Wave WKL to Jalandhar, Pargat Singh, Commissioner, Wave WKL, said, “Fans in Jalandhar has always been of great support for any sports and when it comes to Kabaddi we have seen fantastic support and turnaround. This time we have match of Lahore Lions on all the three days and thus I am hopeful it will be an exciting weekend for all the Kabaddi lovers.”
Raman Raheja, CEO, Wave WKL, added, “Jalandhar is synonym to sports. Everyone in the city is crazy about kabaddi which we have witnessed during our last leg in Jalandhar. The support which we received from the fans here was fabulous thus we decided to come back in Jalandhar. This time instead of two matches on Sunday we have kept three matches so that everyone can enjoy the Kabaddi fever throughout the weekend. I am confident that this time also we will great fans support and am sure that it will be an exciting and action packed weekend.”
The Wave WKL has travelled through seven different cities in two continents - Europe and Asia. The Wave WKL matches have so far been held in spectacular locations like O2 Arena, London; LG Arena, Birmingham; Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium New Delhi; PAU Grounds in Ludhiana, Rajindra College Bathinda, Surjit Hockey Stadium Jalandhar and Guru Nanak Dev University Hockey Stadium, Amritsar.
The first match will be played between Punjab Thunder and Royal Kings USA at 1800 hrs IST and the second match will be between Yo Yo Tigers and Lahore Lions at 1930 hrs IST. The Wave WKL matches are broadcasted on Sony Six, the official broadcasting partner for the league in India.
